◆ Otter integration

How Otter integration works — marketplaces, POS, dispatch, all on one tablet.

Quick answer

Otter integration ingests orders from every marketplace (Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, ezCater, more) into one kitchen tablet, pushes orders into 25+ POS systems (Toast, Square, Clover, Lightspeed U, Aloha, Brink, Oracle Micros, NCR), and routes delivery dispatch across DoorDash Drive / Uber Direct / Relay / Roadie. Zay-OS bundles Otter on Operator + Marketplace ($599/mo) and Concierge ($699/mo) — Zay-OS direct orders also flow through Otter so the kitchen runs on a single tablet for every channel.

The five surfaces Otter handles

What Otter actually does.

01

Marketplace order ingestion

Otter pulls orders from every connected marketplace — Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, ezCater, Postmates, Caviar, Seamless, and 10+ more — into a single Otter Order Manager tablet on the kitchen pass. One screen, one ticket flow, one alert sound. Eliminates the 3-4 stacked marketplace tablets that define "tablet hell".

02

POS push (bidirectional sync)

Otter pushes orders into 25+ POS systems (Toast, Square, Clover, Lightspeed U, Revel, Aloha, Brink, HungerRush, Oracle Micros, PAR Brink, NCR Silver) as if they were rung in-store. Bidirectional menu sync flows the other way — POS menu changes propagate to every marketplace within seconds.

03

Menu cascade

One menu master in Otter — change an item price, 86 an item, add a new dish — cascades to every connected channel (direct ordering, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, POS) within seconds. This is the single highest-leverage feature for preventing the "sold-out item is still orderable" failure mode.

04

Dispatch (delivery routing)

For direct orders that need delivery, Otter Dispatch cascades through DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, Relay, Roadie, and 10+ other courier networks. The cheapest available driver wins; fallback is automatic if a network is unavailable. Coverage spans most US zip codes.

05

Analytics + reporting

Otter aggregates order data across every channel into one reporting layer. Sales by channel, average ticket, prep time, refund rate — visible without logging into each marketplace separately. Zay-OS surfaces the operator-relevant subset in the Zay-OS dashboard.

Under the hood

How Zay-OS uses Otter.

Otter is the connective tissue. Zay-OS layers the operator-side product (branded direct ordering, CRM, marketing console, kitchen tablet UX, Florida SEO + GEO) on top.

Zay-OS direct orders flow through Otter to the same tablet

When a diner places a direct order on your branded Zay-OS site, the order routes through Otter to land on the same kitchen tablet as your Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub orders. One ticket flow. The line cook does not have to learn a separate Zay-OS tablet — Zay-OS direct shows up in the same Otter Order Manager UI.

POS write-back happens via Otter

Zay-OS does not maintain its own POS integration library. Otter does. When a Zay-OS direct order writes back to your Toast / Square / Clover / Lightspeed POS, it goes through Otter's integration layer — the same layer Otter uses for Uber Eats / DoorDash / Grubhub. This is why Zay-OS covers 25+ POS without building them all from scratch.

Dispatch on direct orders uses Otter Dispatch

When a Zay-OS direct order needs delivery, Otter Dispatch finds the cheapest available driver across DoorDash Drive / Uber Direct / Relay / Roadie. The restaurant does not contract directly with each courier network — Otter aggregates the relationship.

How to add it

3 steps to Otter-integrated operations.

1
Pick a Zay-OS plan that includes Otter integration

Operator + Marketplace ($599/mo) and Concierge ($699/mo) include full Otter integration — marketplace ingestion, POS push, dispatch. The base Operator tier ($499/mo) covers direct ordering without marketplace ingestion; upgrade if you have meaningful Uber Eats / DoorDash / Grubhub volume.

2
Provide your existing marketplace and POS credentials

During Zay-OS onboarding, you provide the credentials for your Uber Eats Restaurant Manager, DoorDash Merchant Portal, Grubhub for Restaurants, and your POS. Zay-OS handles the Otter-side wiring — you do not have to log into Otter directly. Setup typically takes 3-7 business days for modern cloud POS; 1-3 weeks for legacy on-prem (Aloha, Micros).

3
Go live with one tablet for every channel

Once Otter integration is live, the kitchen runs on a single tablet that shows direct + Uber Eats + DoorDash + Grubhub orders in one ticket flow. Your existing marketplace tablets come off the line. Zay-OS ships mounting + audio + backup-tablet guidance with every Operator + Marketplace launch.

Straight answers

Otter integration questions.

What is Otter and why does Zay-OS use it?
Otter (Order Manager) is the operator-facing tablet platform most modern restaurants run on the kitchen pass. It ingests orders from every major marketplace (Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, ezCater, others) into one feed, syncs menus across marketplaces, pushes orders into the restaurant's POS, and routes delivery dispatch across DoorDash Drive / Uber Direct / Relay / Roadie. Zay-OS routes its direct orders through Otter too — so every channel lands on the same tablet — and uses Otter's POS integration library to cover 25+ POS systems without building them from scratch.
Do I need a separate Otter contract to use Zay-OS?
No — Otter integration is bundled into Zay-OS Operator + Marketplace ($599/mo) and Concierge ($699/mo). You do not need to sign a separate Otter contract or manage Otter billing. The relationship is invisible from your billing perspective; operationally you will see the Otter Order Manager UI on the kitchen tablet.
Which marketplaces does Otter ingest?
Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub are the big three. Otter also covers ezCater (catering), Postmates, Caviar (acquired by DoorDash), Seamless (owned by Grubhub), ChowNow (some configurations), and 10+ regional / vertical-specific marketplaces. If you run a marketplace not on this list, ask in /contact before signing — coverage is being added regularly.
Which POS does Otter push to?
Otter pushes orders into 25+ POS systems: Toast, Square for Restaurants, Clover, Lightspeed U-Series, Revel, Aloha (NCR), Brink (PAR), HungerRush (Revention), Oracle Micros Simphony, NCR Silver, and others. Modern cloud POS integrate in 1-3 days; legacy on-prem (Aloha, Micros) take 1-3 weeks because the integration setup is more hands-on.
How does Otter Dispatch work for direct delivery orders?
When a Zay-OS direct order needs delivery and you do not run your own driver, Otter Dispatch finds the cheapest available driver across DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, Relay, Roadie, and 10+ other courier networks. The cascade is automatic — if DoorDash Drive is busy in your zip code, Otter falls back to Uber Direct without operator intervention. Coverage spans most US zip codes. Per-delivery fees are passed through to the diner at checkout or absorbed by the restaurant depending on your dispatch configuration.
What if Otter is down — do I lose orders?
Otter has standalone failover modes on the tablet — the cached menu stays usable, orders queue locally, and re-sync when Otter is reachable again. In the rare case of a sustained outage, Zay-OS direct orders fall back to landing on the Zay-OS native tablet (not the Otter Order Manager UI) and marketplace orders revert to their native marketplace tablets temporarily. End-of-day reconciliation handles any sync gap. This has been a non-issue in practice — Otter uptime is enterprise-grade.
