◆ Zay-OS vs Better Resto

Better Resto charges a percent of every order. Zayos is a flat $399 per location.

Zayos is commission-free direct ordering for restaurants at $399 to $599 per location per month, with no setup fee and a flat $0.99 service fee that the diner pays. Better Resto sells four plans, each a monthly fee plus a percent of every order. On a slow month its entry plan costs less than Zayos; as direct sales grow, the flat price wins. The numbers are below.

The crossover

When does a flat $399 cost less than a percent?

Plainly: on a slow month, Better Resto Starter costs less than Zayos. Better Resto Starter is $0 a month plus 10%, so it stays under $399 until a location sells $3,990 a month direct. Each higher plan trades a bigger monthly fee for a smaller percent, and the cheapest of the four stays under $399 until about $24,900 a month (Pro: $150 + 1%). Above that, the flat $399 costs less, and the gap grows with every order.

$3,000 $300$140$135$180 $399
$10,000 $1,000$350$275$250 $399
$25,000 $2,500$800$575$400 $399
$40,000 $4,000$1,250$875$550 $399

Illustrative, for one location, from Better Resto's own pricing page (https://betterresto.com/pricing, read 15 Oct 2026) and ours (/pricing). Each Better Resto cell is the plan's monthly fee plus its percent of the sales in that row. Card processing is left out of both, because both platforms charge it. Better Resto's page does not say whether a plan is per location, so a group of stores should ask them. On Zayos the diner pays the $0.99 service fee; it is not in the restaurant's column.

Common ground

What is the same in both?

Your own ordering site

Both put a branded online store on your own domain, with your full menu, so a regular can order from you instead of from a marketplace.

Promotions you control

Both let you run discount codes and offers on your own site, on your own terms, without paying a marketplace to feature them.

A published price

Both put the price on a public page. You can do this math before anyone calls you, which is rarer in this market than it should be.

Card processing on top

Neither includes card processing in the plan price. Every card payment carries it on both, which is why this page leaves it out of both columns.

Where we pull ahead

What is better with Zay-OS?

No cut of a busy month

Zayos takes no commission, so a record month costs the same $399 as a quiet one. Your best weeks are not taxed. The restaurant keeps 100% of food revenue, and 100% of tips on pickup and dine-in. On delivery the tip goes to the driver.

Customer data on every plan

Every Zayos plan, the $399 one included, gives you your customers' names, emails, phones and order history, with a CRM. Owning that list is the whole point of ordering direct.

Orders straight into your POS

Orders inject into Clover, Square and Shift4 at no extra cost (Toast works with Toast's own $50 a month fee), so the kitchen does not retype a ticket.

Marketplace orders on the same tablet

On Operator + Tablet ($499) and Concierge ($599), Otter brings every Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub order onto the kitchen tablet next to your direct orders. One screen, one ticket flow.
