Popmenu alternatives, priced in the open, Zayos included.

Published July 2026 · Updated July 26, 2026

Quick answer

Popmenu does not publish plan prices. Its own site says setup is included, there are no contracts, and online ordering is commission free with a flat $1 per order. Third parties report $179, $299 and $499 a month. Alternatives with published pricing include ChowNow, Owner.com, Square and Zayos.

What is knowable

What does Popmenu actually cost?

The honest answer is that nobody outside a Popmenu quote knows. Here is the vendor’s own wording next to what third parties report, kept apart on purpose. Where they disagree, we say so instead of picking the version that suits us.

Question Popmenu’s own site says Third parties report
The monthly price Not published anywhere on the site. You book a demo to get a number. Starter $179, Essentials $299, Premier $499 per month, with about 10% off on annual prepay.
Setup and onboarding States setup is included, with no build or setup fees and no hidden fees. Reports a one time onboarding charge of roughly $1,300 or more.
Contract length States there are no contracts and you can cancel anytime. Says contract length and final pricing are typically confirmed during the sales process.
Online ordering Described as commission free, with a flat $1 fee per online order that the restaurant can choose to share with the guest, in whole or in part. Reports ordering as an add-on of roughly $50 a month per location on top of the base plan, plus the $1 per order fee and a 3% processing fee on catering orders.
A second or third location Not published. Reports about $300 a month for each additional location.

The field

Which Popmenu alternative matches your reason for leaving?

Grouped by the job, not by vendor size, because Popmenu does two very different jobs and most operators only pay attention to one of them.

Group A

If what you actually want is the marketing engine

Popmenu is a demand platform that happens to include ordering. If that is why you are there, most ordering vendors are not replacements at all. These two are.

Staying on Popmenu
Quote only

Listed first because it is often correct. If your bottleneck is that nobody knows you exist, Popmenu's interactive menus, review handling and campaign automation do a job that a cheaper ordering page does not attempt. The fair criticism is not the product, it is that you cannot compare it without a call. If the quote you already have is good, staying is a rational answer and nobody selling you an alternative will say so.

Owner.com
$249/mo + 5% restaurant fee per order, or $499/mo flat, guests pay 5%

The closest published price competitor for the same job: website, SEO pages, branded app, loyalty and automated marketing bundled. Per owner.com/pricing (accessed July 2026), Flexible is $249 a month plus a 5% restaurant fee on each order, Flat Rate is $499 a month with no additional restaurant fee and is described as best above $5,000 a month in online sales, guests pay a 5% order support fee on both plans, and there are no long term contracts or cancellation fees. You can read the price before the call, which is the main thing it offers over Popmenu. The percentage fee is the thing to watch as your average ticket grows.

BentoBox
Not published. Clover POS customers only

Worth knowing about and worth ruling out quickly. BentoBox builds the best looking restaurant sites in the category, but its own pricing page (accessed July 2026) states its products are available only to Clover POS customers, so for most restaurants shopping around Popmenu it is not an option at all. If you are on Clover, it belongs on your list.

Group B

If you want ordering to work and you will do your own marketing

Plenty of restaurants bought Popmenu for the site and now only use the order button. If that is you, the bill is buying capability you are not using.

ChowNow
$249 / $349 / $449 per month, $229 / $319 / $409 annual, setup $119 to $499

The whole price list is on the page, which after a Popmenu quote cycle feels like fresh air. Per get.chownow.com/pricing (accessed July 2026): Launch $249 monthly or $229 annual, Grow $349 or $319, Elevate $449 or $409, a $119 to $499 setup fee, processing at 2.95% + $0.29, $99 a year for the Apple developer account if you run the branded app, $7.98 per order for Flex Delivery, and marketing contacts capped at 500, 2,000 and 5,000 by tier. No percentage of food revenue on any plan. It does direct ordering and does not pretend to be a marketing suite.

Square
Free $0 / Plus $49 / Premium $149 per month

The floor. Per NerdWallet (updated March 20, 2026), Square for food and beverage runs $0, $49 and $149 a month, with online processing at 3.3% + $0.30 on the Free plan and 2.9% + $0.30 on Plus and Premium, and in person at 2.6%, 2.5% and 2.4% + $0.15. Square's own pricing page (accessed July 2026) says no hidden fees and no locked in contracts, cancel or switch anytime. Note the trap in the free plan: at volume the higher online rate can cost more than a paid plan would have. It is the cheapest fixed cost here and the least restaurant shaped software here.

Group C

If the delivery app tablets are the real problem

Popmenu, Owner.com, ChowNow and Square are all direct ordering. None of them make your Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub tickets appear in one place.

Zayos
$499 Operator, $599 Operator + Marketplace, $699 Concierge, per location, no setup fee

This is our platform. The reason it sits in its own group is the one thing the rest of this page cannot do: on the $599 tier, Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub orders come in through Otter and print on the same tablet as your direct orders, so the line runs one screen instead of four. Pricing is published and flat, $499, $599 or $699 per location per month, month to month, no setup fee, and the diner pays a flat service fee at checkout, $0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine in, 10% on catering, while the restaurant keeps 100% of food revenue and tips. Honest counterweights: we are more expensive per month than ChowNow Launch or Square, we are the newest platform on this page, and Naya Grill in Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach is the only restaurant live and taking orders on Zayos today, keeping over $48,000 a year that used to go to commissions at about 3,000 orders a month. Eight more storefronts are built, with ordering opening at each launch.

Come prepared

What should I ask on a demo call when the price is not published?

When pricing lives behind a call, the operator with the better questions gets the better deal. Read these six out loud, in this order, to Popmenu and to every vendor on this page including us. Ask for the answers in one written document.

  1. 01 What is the monthly rate, in writing, for exactly the modules I need, and what does it renew at in month 13?
  2. 02 Is online ordering included in that number or is it a separate line? What is the line?
  3. 03 What is the one time cost on day one, including onboarding, build, photography and menu loading?
  4. 04 What is the per-order fee, who pays it by default, and can I change who pays it later without a call?
  5. 05 What does a second location cost, and does the base plan repeat or discount?
  6. 06 If I cancel in month four, what do I owe, what do I keep, and can I export my full customer list with order history?

A vendor that answers all six in writing without friction is telling you something useful about the next three years, whatever the number turns out to be.

Published pricing is not the same as cheap pricing, and two vendors here publish nothing at all. Confirm current terms with each vendor before you sign.

Straight answers

Popmenu alternatives, answered.

How much does Popmenu cost per month?
Popmenu does not publish plan prices, so there is no official answer to quote. Its own pricing page (accessed July 2026) says setup is included, there are no contracts, you can cancel anytime, and online ordering is commission free with a flat $1 fee per online order that the restaurant can share with the guest. Restolabs reports Starter at $179, Essentials at $299 and Premier at $499 a month with about 10% off on annual prepay, ordering as a roughly $50 a month add-on, and about $300 a month per extra location (updated January 8, 2026). Reported figures are not the same as published ones, and only your written quote is binding.
Does Popmenu charge a setup fee?
The sources disagree and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Popmenu's own site states there are no build or setup fees and no hidden fees. Restolabs reports a one time onboarding charge of about $1,300 or more. From outside the sales process there is no way to reconcile those, so ask for the quote as an itemised document, look for any line covering onboarding, build, photography or menu loading, and get the answer in writing before you sign.
What is the best alternative to Popmenu?
It depends which half of Popmenu you actually use. If you use the marketing engine, Owner.com is the closest published price equivalent at $249 a month plus 5% per order or $499 a month flat, with guests paying a 5% order support fee. If you only use the order button, ChowNow at $249 a month or Square from $0 a month will do that job for less. If your problem is that direct orders and delivery app orders arrive on different screens, Zayos at $599 a month per location ingests Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub through Otter onto one tablet, which none of the others do.
Is Popmenu online ordering really commission free?
The commission free claim is about percentages of food revenue, and on that narrow point it holds: Popmenu says it does not take a cut of your food sales. What exists instead is a flat $1 fee on each online order, which the restaurant can pass to the guest in whole or in part, plus card processing, plus a reported 3% on catering orders, plus the ordering module itself, reported at around $50 a month. Commission free and cost free are different claims, and the gap between them is where most of the disappointment lives.
Who pays the per-order fee on each of these platforms?
It varies, and it is the fastest way to compare true cost. Popmenu charges $1 per online order and lets the restaurant decide how much of that the guest sees. Owner.com charges guests a 5% order support fee on both plans, and on the $249 plan also charges the restaurant 5%. BentoBox has the diner pay a $.99 service fee. ChowNow charges the restaurant no platform fee per order, only processing. Zayos has the diner pay a flat $0.99 on pickup and $2.99 on delivery, $0 on dine in and 10% on catering, and the restaurant never pays it and keeps 100% of food revenue and tips.
