◆ Alternatives

Leaving Menufy? The honest alternatives, Zayos included.

Quick answer

Menufy is no longer free to restaurants. Its published 2026 pricing is $179 a month month to month, or $149 a month on a twelve month agreement. The real alternatives are ChowNow, Owner.com, Square, Flipdish, Toast and Zayos, each priced very differently per order.

Every competitor figure on this page is quoted from the vendor’s own published page or attributed to a named source, accessed July 2026.

Start here

What changed at Menufy?

Nearly every Menufy search that ends on an alternatives page starts with the same surprise. Here are both sides of it, quoted.

The pitch operators signed up for

Menufy built its base on being free to the restaurant. The developer response on its own consumer app listing still reads: "we do not charge our restaurants for our online ordering or web-building services, including our app. In addition, we do not take a cut of menu sales, unlike other companies." For a lot of small independents that was the entire reason to choose it over ChowNow or a website agency.

What the pricing page publishes in 2026

Menufy’s current published pricing is $179 per month month to month, or $149 per month on a twelve month agreement with free equipment included, stated as "no per-order commissions" (accessed July 2026). That is a real product with real support behind it. It is also a subscription line where operators used to see zero, and that is the single most common reason a Menufy restaurant starts shopping.

Both statements are live as of July 2026 and both are linked in the Sources block below. The fair reading is not that anyone lied, it is that a free product became a $149 to $179 product, and a decision made on the old terms deserves to be re-made on the new ones.

The reasons

Why do restaurants leave Menufy?

Credit first: Menufy takes no percentage of your food revenue on its direct ordering subscription, it answers the phone in several languages, and the annual plan includes equipment. These are the five questions that still send operators shopping.

01

Why is Menufy charging me now when it used to be free?

Because the model changed. The published rate is $179/month (or $149/month annual) with no per-order commission. Nothing about that is dishonest, and the annual plan bundles equipment. But an operator who budgeted $0 is now comparing $149 to $179 a month against ChowNow at $249 and Flipdish at $149, and at that point the question is not loyalty, it is what each dollar buys.

02

Who actually pays the fee at checkout?

Menufy’s model has long included a diner-facing convenience fee, with the restaurant able to absorb it instead. Menufy does not publish the fee amount on its pricing page, and its help-center articles on the subject were not publicly readable at the time of writing, so this page does not state a number. Ask for the current fee in writing, ask whether it varies by state, and ask what happens to it when the restaurant absorbs it. Any vendor should answer that in one sentence.

03

Who owns the domain if I leave?

Menufy’s own how-it-works page says: "No website? We’ll secure and host a domain for you. Already have a website? We’ll attach a branded ordering platform." Convenient at signup, load-bearing at exit. If the vendor registered your domain, get the registrar login and the transfer terms in writing before you shop, because your Google rankings, your links and your printed menus all point at that name.

04

Is the answer to marketplace fees really a smaller marketplace fee?

Menufy’s own article on delivery app fees says it "has negotiated a special 12.5% commission rate with both DoorDash and Uber Eats for its restaurant partners, roughly half the standard rate." That is a genuine saving on marketplace orders and worth having. It is also a commission, and it scales with your ticket. A 12.5% cut of a $30 order is $3.75 forever, on every order, in perpetuity.

05

Is this still an independent company?

Menufy was acquired by Houston-based HungerRush in October 2021 and the consumer app now brands itself "Menufy by HungerRush." Acquisition is not a grievance. It is context for a renewal conversation: roadmap priorities, support staffing and pricing all sit with the parent, so ask where your segment ranks in the combined roadmap before you re-sign for a year.

The field

Which Menufy alternative fits which restaurant?

Six real options, one honest verdict each, including the ones that are not us. Zayos is entry six and the entry says so.

01

ChowNow

$249 / $349 / $449 per month, $229 / $319 / $409 annual, plus $119 to $499 setup
Best for: Operators who want the flat-fee promise with a bigger brand behind it

ChowNow is the closest philosophical match to what Menufy used to be: it takes no percentage of your food revenue, and it says so plainly. Its published pricing (accessed July 2026) is Launch $249, Grow $349, Elevate $449 per month, with $229/$319/$409 billed annually. Around that sit a $119 to $499 setup fee, card processing at 2.95% + $0.29 per transaction, $7.98 per order on Flex Delivery, a $99 annual Apple developer fee for the branded app, and $250 to $420 for a printer. It is direct ordering only, so your DoorDash and Uber Eats tablets stay separate. Honest read: you are paying roughly $70 to $100 a month more than Menufy for a deeper marketing stack and a bigger support org.

02

Owner.com

$249/mo Flexible plus 5% restaurant fee per order, or $499/mo Flat Rate, guests pay a 5% order support fee
Best for: Operators whose real problem is demand, not software

If you are leaving Menufy because the orders are not coming, Owner.com is the most aggressive growth stack on this list: AI-built site, SEO pages, branded app, loyalty and automated marketing in one bundle. Its published pricing (accessed July 2026) is $249/month Flexible with a 5% restaurant fee per order, or $499/month Flat Rate "with no additional restaurant fees," both month to month with no long-term contract. On both plans guests pay a 5% order support fee at checkout, which is $5.00 on a $100 ticket and keeps growing with the ticket. Setup and processing rates are not published. Honest read: percentage-shaped fees are exactly what most people leave marketplaces to escape, so run your own average ticket through it first.

Square for Restaurants

Free, Plus and Premium plans, online card processing 3.3% + 30 cents on Free, 2.9% + 30 cents on Plus and Premium
Best for: Very small operators who need the monthly line to be zero

Square is the honest floor if the whole reason you are shopping is that $149 a month became hard. There is a genuinely free plan, no setup fee and no contract. The cost moves into the rate: Square publishes online processing at 3.3% + 30 cents on the Free plan and 2.9% + 30 cents on Plus and Premium, with in-person at 2.6% + 15 cents, 2.5% + 15 cents and 2.4% + 15 cents respectively (accessed July 2026). What you give up is restaurant-shaped software: no marketing depth, no marketplace consolidation, and a storefront that looks like a Square storefront. Honest read: at low volume it is the cheapest real option on this page.

04

Flipdish

$149/mo website, $249/mo website and app, $99/mo kiosk, each billed per site, annual pricing lower
Best for: Operators who want a self-service kiosk in the dining room

Flipdish lands at almost exactly Menufy’s price point: its published US pricing (accessed July 2026) is $149/month for Website ($119/month billed annually), $249/month for Website and Mobile App ($199/month annually) and $99/month for Self-Service Kiosk ($79/month annually), each billed per site. It is the only vendor on this page selling a first-party ordering kiosk at a published monthly price, which matters if counter queues are your bottleneck. Two things to read before signing: hardware and implementation are quoted separately ("There may be upfront costs"), and the contract is a twelve month initial term that auto-renews for twelve month periods with three months of written notice required. Honest read: strong product, tight contract.

The Flipdish contract, in detail →

Toast

$0 Starter Kit or $69/mo Point of Sale, online ordering is a paid add-on
Best for: Operators replacing the whole floor, not just the ordering page

Toast is the answer when the ordering page was never the real problem, the register was. NerdWallet’s review (accessed July 2026) lists a $0 Starter Kit and a $69/month Point of Sale plan, processing at 2.49% + $0.15 card present when you buy hardware upfront, 3.09% + $0.15 pay as you go, 3.50% + $0.15 card not present, hardware from $149 to $1,454, a two year contract with early termination fees, and online ordering priced as an extra. Honest read: this is the biggest commitment on the page, and the only one that also replaces your POS, kitchen screens and payroll.

Zayos vs Toast →
06

Zayos

$499 Operator, $599 Operator plus Marketplace, $699 Concierge, per location per month, no setup fee
Best for: Independents who want the direct channel and the marketplace tablets in one flow

This is our platform, so weight it accordingly. Zayos costs more per month than Menufy and it does not pretend otherwise: $499, $599 or $699 per location per month, month to month, no setup fee. What that buys is the whole stack in one bill, a branded ordering site on your own domain with SEO schema, a customer list you own, a kitchen tablet, and on the $599 tier, Otter ingestion so Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub orders land on the same screen as your direct orders. The per-order economics run the other way from a commission: the diner pays a flat service fee at checkout, $0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine-in and 10% on catering, and the restaurant keeps 100% of food revenue and tips. Honest counterweights: it is the newest platform here, and Naya Grill (Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach, FL) is the only restaurant live and taking orders on it today. Storefronts are built for Shishka Lebanese Grill, La Vie Mediterranean, Yummy Grill, aura, Courtyard Cafe, Mr. Smoke across 13 locations, Yalla Market and Tap That Ash, each opening ordering at its own launch.

One option that is no longer available

GloriaFood used to be the standard answer for operators who wanted a free ordering page. It is not any more. Its own site now carries the notice: "GloriaFood has been discontinued and is no longer accepting new signups. We are fully committed to supporting our existing customers throughout this transition" (accessed July 2026). If a comparison article still recommends it to you, that article is stale, and the free-forever tier is a thinner category than it was.

How do the alternatives compare on price?

Published entry pricing and per-order economics as accessed in July 2026. "Marketplace orders in one flow" means Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub orders arrive in the same ticket flow as your direct orders.

Vendors change pricing. Where a vendor does not publish a number, this table says so rather than guessing. Confirm current terms directly before you sign anything.

Before you sign

What should I ask before I sign with the next one?

Four questions. Ask all four of every vendor on this page, including us. If a rep cannot answer any of them in one sentence, that is the answer.

  1. 01Who is the registrant on my domain, and can I get the login today?

If the vendor registered it for you, this is the question that decides whether switching costs you a weekend or a quarter of lost search traffic. Ask for registrar access in writing before you shop, not after you sign elsewhere.

  2. 02What exactly does the diner see at checkout, in dollars?

Get the fee shown as a number on a $30 order and on a $100 order. Percentage fees look small at $30 and hurt at $100. Flat fees do the opposite. Neither is wrong, but you cannot compare them as adjectives.

  3. 03Can I export my customer list, and in what format?

Names, emails, phone numbers and order history, as a CSV, on demand, without asking support. If the answer is a support ticket, the list is not really yours, and rebuilding it is the most expensive part of any switch.

  4. 04What is the notice period, and what does it cost to leave in month seven?

Month to month means you can leave in month seven for nothing. A twelve month auto-renewing term with a three month notice window means you can only leave on one specific date. Ask for the termination clause in writing and read it before the demo, not after.

Straight answers

Menufy alternatives, answered.

Is Menufy still free for restaurants in 2026?

No. Menufy’s published pricing page (accessed July 2026) lists $179 per month on a month to month basis and $149 per month on a twelve month agreement with free equipment included, described as having no per-order commissions. Menufy’s consumer app listing still carries an older developer statement that it does not charge restaurants for online ordering or web building. Treat the pricing page as current and ask your rep to confirm your own rate in writing.

What is the best alternative to Menufy?

It depends on why you are leaving. If the monthly line is the problem, Square has a genuinely free plan and charges 3.3% + 30 cents on online orders. If you want the same flat-fee philosophy with more marketing behind it, ChowNow starts at $249 per month. If the orders are not coming, Owner.com sells demand generation at $249 per month plus 5% per order or $499 flat. If you want direct orders and marketplace orders in one kitchen flow, Zayos runs $499 to $699 per location per month with a flat diner-paid service fee.

Does Menufy take a commission on orders?

Menufy’s pricing page states its direct ordering subscription carries no per-order commissions. Separately, Menufy’s own article on delivery app fees says it has negotiated a 12.5% commission rate with DoorDash and Uber Eats for its restaurant partners, which it describes as roughly half the standard rate. So there is no Menufy commission on a direct order, and a reduced third-party commission on marketplace orders routed through that arrangement.

Will I lose my website and my Google ranking if I leave Menufy?

Only if the domain is not yours. Menufy’s how-it-works page offers to secure and host a domain for restaurants that do not have one. If that is your situation, ask for registrar access and the transfer terms in writing first. If you own the domain, your rankings follow the domain, and a well-built replacement site keeps them as long as your URLs and content survive the move.

Who owns Menufy?

Menufy was acquired by HungerRush, a Houston-based restaurant software company, in October 2021. The consumer app now brands itself Menufy by HungerRush. That does not change how the product works day to day, but it is worth knowing at renewal, because roadmap and pricing decisions sit with the parent company.

How does Zayos compare to Menufy on price?

Zayos is more expensive per month and structurally different per order. Menufy publishes $149 to $179 per month. Zayos is $499, $599 or $699 per location per month with no setup fee, month to month. In exchange the diner pays a flat service fee at checkout, $0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine-in and 10% catering, the restaurant keeps 100% of food revenue and tips, and the $599 tier lands Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub orders on the same kitchen tablet as direct orders through Otter.
