◆ Alternatives

Flipdish alternatives, and the notice clause to read first. Zayos included.

Quick answer

Flipdish publishes $149 a month for a website, $249 with a mobile app and $99 for a kiosk, billed per site. Its own terms set a twelve month initial term that auto renews, with three months of written notice. Alternatives include ChowNow, Owner.com, Menufy, Square, Toast and Zayos.

Contract language on this page is quoted from Flipdish’s own published Terms and Conditions, accessed July 2026. This is not legal advice. Read your own signed agreement, which may differ.

When can I actually leave Flipdish?

Most operators start comparing features and only discover the exit date on the way out. Flipdish publishes its terms in full, which is more than most vendors do, so the answer is knowable today. Four clauses, quoted, then what each one means on a calendar.

Initial term
The Agreement starts on the Effective Date and continues for 12 months, unless as otherwise stated in the Client Agreement

You are in for a year from signature. Not from launch, from the effective date on the agreement, which is usually earlier than the day your site actually went live.

Renewal
It then auto-renews for 12-month periods

Silence renews it. Nobody has to send you anything. If you do nothing at month twelve, you are in until month twenty four.

Notice
you notify us of termination, in writing, at least 3 months before the end of the Initial Term or any Renewal Term

Your decision window is month nine, not month twelve. Miss it by a week and the next exit date is twenty one months away. Put it in a calendar the day you sign.

Early exit
termination compensation of the monthly average of the previous 6 months of fees multiplied by the number of months remaining in the Term

Leaving mid-term is priced, not free. On the $149 Website plan with seven months left, that formula lands near $1,043 plus any outstanding charges. That is arithmetic on the published clause, not a quote from Flipdish.

The one action to take today

Find the effective date on your signed agreement, add nine months, and put a calendar reminder on that date with the words "decide on Flipdish, written notice due in 3 months". If that date has already passed this year, you now know your real shortlist deadline, and you have time to price alternatives properly instead of in a panic.

The reasons

Why do restaurants look for a Flipdish alternative?

Five questions that come up over and over, all answerable from Flipdish’s own published pages. None of them is a scandal. All of them are things to settle in writing before a renewal date decides for you.

01

Why does my price multiply when I open a second location?

Because Flipdish prices per site. Its published US pricing is $149 per month for Website ($119 billed annually), $249 per month for Website and Mobile App ($199 annually) and $99 per month for the Self-Service Kiosk ($79 annually), each explicitly "Billed annually, per site". A three location group on the Website and Mobile App plan is at $747 a month before hardware. That is a legitimate model, and it is the one that surprises groups who budgeted a single subscription.

02

What is the actual card processing rate?

Flipdish handles card processing for its customers and its pricing page says the transaction rates are transparent with no hidden fees, but it does not print a number next to that sentence. Meanwhile the Terms and Conditions describe Flipdish retaining commission, charges and fees payable to it from payment card sales. Neither statement is contradictory. Together they mean the rate exists and you have to ask for it. Get the percentage, the per-transaction amount, and whether it differs by card type, in the same document as the monthly fee.

03

What do setup and hardware actually cost?

Not published, and the pricing page says so plainly: "There may be upfront costs for Flipdish hardware and implementation. These costs vary depending on your specific needs." It also offers to spread setup and hardware across monthly instalments. That flexibility is genuinely useful for cash flow. It also makes the monthly number on the pricing page an incomplete picture, so ask for the twelve month all-in figure including implementation before you compare it against anything else on this page.

04

Why is the exit date not the date I choose?

This is the single most common Flipdish surprise, and it is entirely public. Twelve month term, automatic twelve month renewal, three months of written notice required before the end of any term. Practically, you can only leave on one date per year, and you have to decide three months before it. The contract is not unusual for European hospitality software. It is unusual next to the month-to-month terms that Owner.com, Menufy and Zayos publish, which is why it feels sharper when you compare.

05

Is support close enough to my timezone?

Flipdish was founded in 2015 by brothers Conor and James McCarthy, is headquartered in Sandyford, Dublin, and lists offices in Dublin, London and Karachi. For an Irish or UK operator that is a real advantage: local hours, local payment rails, local knowledge. For a US operator it is a question rather than a problem. Ask which office covers your account, what hours it works in your timezone, and who answers at 7pm on a Friday when orders stop coming through.

The field

Which alternative fits which reason for leaving?

Each entry carries its contract term next to its price, because on this page the term is the reason. Zayos is entry six and the entry says so.

01

ChowNow

$249 / $349 / $449 per month, $229 / $319 / $409 annual, plus $119 to $499 setup
Term: Month to month option published

ChowNow is the closest US equivalent to what Flipdish sells: a branded ordering site, a branded mobile app on the higher tiers, and no percentage of your food revenue. Its published pricing (accessed July 2026) is Launch $249, Grow $349, Elevate $449 per month, or $229, $319 and $409 billed annually, plus a $119 to $499 setup fee, 2.95% + $0.29 per transaction, $7.98 per order on Flex Delivery, a $99 annual Apple developer fee for the branded app and $250 to $420 for a printer. Honest read: it costs more per month than Flipdish Website and it prints its processing rate, which Flipdish does not. Direct ordering only, so marketplace tablets stay separate.

Owner.com

$249/mo plus 5% restaurant fee per order, or $499/mo flat, guests pay a 5% order support fee
Term: Month to month, no long-term contract

Owner.com is the option if the reason you are leaving is that the site never generated demand. It bundles an AI-built website, automated SEO pages, a branded app, loyalty and marketing automation, and its pricing page states plans are "month-to-month with no long-term contracts" (accessed July 2026), which is the direct answer to the Flipdish notice window. The cost is shape rather than size: $249 a month Flexible carries a 5% restaurant fee per order, $499 a month Flat Rate carries none, and on both plans guests pay a 5% order support fee at checkout. Setup and processing rates are not published. Honest read: you trade a term for a percentage.

03

Menufy

$179/mo month to month, or $149/mo on a 12 month agreement with equipment included
Term: Month to month available

Menufy sits at almost exactly the Flipdish Website price with a genuinely month-to-month option, which for an operator leaving over the notice clause is the whole point. Its published pricing (accessed July 2026) is $179 per month month to month with no agreement required and cancel anytime with no penalty, or $149 per month on a twelve month agreement with free equipment included, described as having no per-order commissions. Honest read: Menufy does not publish the diner-facing convenience fee amount, and its answer to marketplace costs is a negotiated 12.5% commission with DoorDash and Uber Eats rather than removing commission. Ask both questions before signing.

Square for Restaurants

Free, Plus and Premium plans, online processing 3.3% + 30 cents on Free, 2.9% + 30 cents on paid plans
Term: No contract

Square is the fastest way to be out of any term contract at all. Free plan, no setup fee, no commitment, hardware you can buy in a shop. Square publishes online processing at 3.3% + 30 cents on the Free plan and 2.9% + 30 cents on Plus and Premium, in person at 2.6%, 2.5% and 2.4% + 15 cents by plan, and manual entry at 3.5% + 15 cents (accessed July 2026). Honest read: you give up the things Flipdish is actually good at. No kiosk product at this price, thinner restaurant-shaped marketing, and a storefront that looks like a Square storefront rather than your brand.

Toast

$0 Starter Kit or $69/mo Point of Sale, online ordering is a paid add-on
Term: Two year contract with early termination fees

Toast is worth listing only if the register is also in scope, because it replaces the whole operation: POS, payments, kitchen screens, payroll and ordering, with third-party delivery integrations included. Per NerdWallet (accessed July 2026): $0 Starter Kit or $69 per month Point of Sale, processing at 2.49% + $0.15 card present when hardware is bought upfront, 3.09% + $0.15 pay as you go, 3.50% + $0.15 card not present, hardware from $149 to $1,454, and a two year contract with early termination fees. Honest read: if you are leaving Flipdish because of a twelve month term, do not walk into a twenty four month one by accident.

Zayos

$499 Operator, $599 Operator plus Marketplace, $699 Concierge, per location per month, no setup fee
Term: Month to month, no setup fee

Our platform, so weigh it accordingly, starting with the thing that will decide it either way: Zayos is more expensive per month than Flipdish and it is month to month with no setup fee, so there is no notice window, no auto-renewal and no termination formula to calculate. Pricing is $499, $599 or $699 per location per month, published, no quote required. What that covers is the direct channel end to end, a branded ordering site on your own domain with SEO schema, a customer list you own, a kitchen tablet, and on the $599 tier, Otter ingestion so Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub orders land on the same screen as direct orders. Per-order economics are flat rather than percentage: the diner pays $0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine-in and 10% on catering, and the restaurant keeps 100% of food revenue and tips. Honest counterweights: there is no self-service kiosk product, so if the kiosk is why you are on Flipdish we do not replace it. And Zayos is the newest platform here, with Naya Grill (Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach, FL) the only restaurant live and taking orders on it today, and storefronts built for Shishka Lebanese Grill, La Vie Mediterranean, Yummy Grill, aura, Courtyard Cafe, Mr. Smoke across 13 locations, Yalla Market and Tap That Ash, each opening ordering at its own launch.

Flipdish and its alternatives, one table.

The contract column is second, not last, because on this page it is usually the deciding one. Every figure was read off the vendor’s own published page in July 2026, except Toast, which is attributed.

The fair case

When is Flipdish the right answer?

When you want a kiosk. Flipdish is the only vendor on this page that sells a first-party self-service ordering kiosk at a published monthly price, $99 per site per month or from $79 billed annually. If counter queues at lunch are your actual bottleneck, nothing else here solves it, including us.

When you are in Ireland or the UK. Flipdish was founded in Dublin in 2015 and lists offices in Dublin, London and Karachi. Local payment rails, local hours and local product decisions are worth real money to an operator on that side of the Atlantic, and a US-first vendor will not match them.

When you value published terms. Flipdish prints its contract in full: term, renewal, notice period and the termination formula. Several vendors in this category publish none of that. A tight contract you can read beats a loose one you cannot, and it is the reason this page could be written at all.

Straight answers

Flipdish alternatives, answered.

How much does Flipdish cost?

Flipdish publishes three US plans, each billed per site (accessed July 2026): Website at $149 per month, or from $119 per month billed annually at $1,428 per year. Website and Mobile App at $249 per month, or from $199 per month billed annually at $2,388 per year. Self-Service Kiosk at $99 per month, or from $79 per month billed annually at $948 per year. Setup and hardware are quoted separately, and the page states there may be upfront costs for hardware and implementation that vary by need. Card processing rates are not published.

Does Flipdish have a contract, and how do I get out of it?

Yes. Flipdish’s own Terms and Conditions state the agreement starts on the effective date and continues for 12 months, then auto-renews for 12-month periods, and that you must notify Flipdish of termination in writing at least 3 months before the end of the initial term or any renewal term. Terminating outside that window carries termination compensation calculated as the monthly average of the previous six months of fees multiplied by the number of months remaining in the term, plus outstanding charges. In practice your decision date is month nine of each year, not month twelve.

What is the best alternative to Flipdish?

If the contract is why you are leaving, the shortlist is the vendors that publish month-to-month terms: Menufy at $179 per month with no agreement required, Owner.com at $249 per month plus 5% per order or $499 flat with no long-term contract, Square with a free plan and no contract, and Zayos at $499 to $699 per location per month. If you want the closest feature match, ChowNow is the nearest equivalent at $249 to $449 per month. If the register is also in scope, Toast replaces everything but locks you into two years.

Does Flipdish charge commission on orders?

Flipdish’s US pricing page does not list a commission or per-order fee next to any plan, and its FAQ content does not mention commission language. Its Terms and Conditions do refer to Flipdish retaining commission, charges and fees payable to it from payment card sales. The honest answer is that the subscription is published and the transaction economics are not, so ask for the full rate card in writing and check whether anything percentage-based applies to your specific agreement. Do not assume either way from a marketing page.

What does Flipdish do better than the alternatives?

Three things, fairly. It is the only vendor on this page selling a first-party self-service kiosk at a published monthly price, $99 per month per site or from $79 billed annually, which matters if counter queues are the bottleneck. Its website and mobile app bundle at $249 per month is competitive against comparable app-inclusive tiers. And it publishes its contract terms in full, which most vendors in this category simply do not, so you can read exactly what you are agreeing to before you sign.

Is Zayos a Flipdish alternative?

For the ordering side, yes, and for the kiosk, no. Zayos gives an independent restaurant a branded ordering site on its own domain with SEO schema, a customer list it owns, a kitchen tablet, and on the $599 tier, Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub orders landing on the same screen as direct orders through Otter. It is $499, $599 or $699 per location per month, month to month, no setup fee, with the diner paying a flat service fee at checkout and the restaurant keeping 100% of food revenue and tips. It does not include a self-service kiosk, so if the kiosk is the reason you chose Flipdish, that part does not transfer.
