◆ Pizzeria roundup 2026

Best online ordering for pizzerias, ranked by Zayos.

Published July 2026 · Updated July 26, 2026

Quick answer

For most independent pizzerias the best online ordering system is Slice, at $39 a month plus a per-order fee, because it is pizza-native and brings diners with it. Past roughly 150 online orders a month, a flat-fee platform such as Zayos costs less.

Why is a Zayos page ranking a competitor first?

Because for a lot of pizzerias it is the right answer, and a roundup that says otherwise is worthless to you and obvious to everyone. We build Zayos. We put Slice first for pizzerias because pizza is its only product and because it brings demand, which we do not. Then we show the exact monthly order count where our flat fee stops being the more expensive option, so you can check the claim instead of trusting it.

Every price here was read off the vendor’s own pricing page on July 26, 2026, or attributed to a named tracker where the vendor publishes nothing. Card processing is charged separately by every platform on this list and is left out of the comparison table so the software cost is visible on its own.

The ranking

Which platforms actually fit a pizza shop?

Ranked for an independent one to three location pizzeria. Each entry leads with the shop it genuinely suits, then the verified price, then the part the sales deck leaves out.

01

Slice

First pick for most pizzerias
The pizzeria it fits

The only platform on this list built for pizza and nothing else, and one of only two here that also brings you diners. Slice runs a consumer pizza app, so the per-order fee is buying demand as well as software. For an independent shop under roughly 150 online card orders a month, it is the cheapest credible way to be online, and the $39 entry point is lower than anything else here.

Pricing, verified July 2026

Published on slice.com/pricing, read 2026-07-26. Online Membership: $39/month plus $3.00 per order on credit card orders, card processing 2.90% + $0.30, month to month. Family Membership: $399/month plus $2.00 per order on online and phone orders with no per-order fee under $10, a $1,000 implementation fee, and hardware included (register, stand, terminal, cash drawer, receipt printer, kitchen printer, network kit). Both plans include the POS, website, ordering, Slice app listing, loyalty and 24/7 support.

The case against it

The per-order fee is the whole trade. It scales with your best months, and at 400 online orders it turns $39 into $1,239. You are also on a marketplace-shaped platform: the Slice app is where a chunk of your diners meet you, which is discovery you rent rather than own.

02

Zayos

Once your online volume is real
The pizzeria it fits

The pizzeria that already does steady online volume and runs two or three marketplaces it wants on one tablet. Direct orders land on the same Otter kitchen tablet that receives DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub, so the make line watches one queue. The bill does not move when Friday is good.

Pricing, verified July 2026

Published on /pricing: $499/month Operator, $599/month Operator + Marketplace (adds Otter marketplace ingestion), $699/month Concierge, per location, month to month, no setup fee. The restaurant pays $0 per order and keeps 100% of food revenue and tips. The diner pays a flat service fee at checkout: $0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine-in, 10% on catering.

The case against it

We build it, which is why it is second and not first. It brings you no diner demand at all: every order is one you already earned. Below about 150 online orders a month the flat fee is worse arithmetic than Slice, and we would rather you read the crossover table than take our word for it. One restaurant is live and taking orders today, Naya Grill in Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach.

03

Toast Online Ordering

If the shop already runs Toast
The pizzeria it fits

Pizzerias already on Toast POS. One menu, one ticket path, one vendor, no integration to babysit on a Saturday night. If your registers, printers and payroll are already Toast, bolting its ordering on is the least disruptive move available and we would not talk you out of it.

Pricing, verified July 2026

Toast publishes POS plans at $0/month for the Starter Kit and from $69/month for Point of Sale. Merchant Maverick reports the online ordering module at $75/month, and processing at 3.09% to 3.69% + $0.15 on the Starter Kit or 2.49% + $0.15 on the flat-rate Point of Sale option (guide updated June 2025, accessed 2026-07-26). Digital ordering sits inside the quote-based Build Your Own plan.

The case against it

You cannot buy it without Toast POS, its hardware and its processing. Buying a POS to get an ordering page is backwards if you are happy with the registers you own.

04

Owner.com

Best marketing bundle
The pizzeria it fits

The pizzeria whose problem is that nobody knows the direct site exists. Owner bundles the website, a branded app, automated email and text campaigns and loyalty into one subscription, and among the general-purpose direct platforms that package is the one to beat when you are trying to build a reorder habit.

Pricing, verified July 2026

Published on owner.com/pricing, read 2026-07-26: $249/month Flexible plus a 5% restaurant fee per order, or $499/month Flat Rate with no restaurant fee. On both plans the guest pays a 5% order support fee. Month to month, no cancellation fee, migration included. Owner notes special rates for multi-location without publishing them.

The case against it

The guest-side 5% is a percentage, so it climbs with a $90 family order where a flat fee does not. It is a direct-channel product, so your marketplace tickets keep arriving on their own separate tablets.

05

ChowNow

Commission-free plus a small network
The pizzeria it fits

Pizzerias that want flat commission-free ordering with a modest discovery bump on the side. ChowNow runs its own diner app, so it behaves a little like Slice without taking a percentage of the ticket.

Pricing, verified July 2026

Published on get.chownow.com/pricing, read 2026-07-26: Launch $229/month billed annually or $249 month to month, Grow $319/$349, Elevate $409/$449. Plus a one-time setup fee of $119 to $499, processing at 2.95% + $0.29, a $99 annual Apple developer fee for a branded app, and printers at $250 to $420. Commission on direct orders is 0%.

The case against it

The setup fee and per-transaction processing sit on top of the subscription, and the network is a bonus rather than pizza-scale demand. Nothing about the ordering flow is built for pizza specifically.

06

Square Online

Cheapest way to open a door
The pizzeria it fits

A brand new slice counter that needs an ordering page this week and cannot justify a subscription yet. Square Online takes direct orders at $0/month with only card processing to pay, and no other platform here matches that entry point.

Pricing, verified July 2026

Free $0, Plus $49/month, Premium $149/month per location, with online processing at 3.3% + 30 cents on Free and 2.9% + 30 cents on the paid plans, following Square's October 2025 pricing overhaul (POS USA, updated June 2026, accessed 2026-07-26).

The case against it

Processing is the real invoice. At $18,000 a month in online pizza sales the percentage alone runs about $520 to $590 every month, and the pizza-specific depth (build flows, per-tray inventory, zone rules) is not there.

The crossover

How many online orders before flat pricing wins?

Software cost only, at three monthly online order counts. Card processing is billed separately on every platform here and is excluded so the subscriptions are comparable. Owner.com Flexible is modeled at a $30 average pizza ticket.

Plan How it bills 100 orders 300 orders 700 orders
Slice, Online Membership $39/mo + $3.00/order $339 $939 $2,139
Slice, Family Membership $399/mo + $2.00/order, $1,000 implementation $599 $999 $1,799
Zayos Operator $499/mo flat, $0 restaurant per-order $499 $499 $499
Zayos Operator + Marketplace $599/mo flat, $0 restaurant per-order $599 $599 $599
Owner.com Flexible $249/mo + 5% of order value $399 $699 $1,299
Owner.com Flat Rate $499/mo flat $499 $499 $499
ChowNow Launch $229/mo annual billing $229 $229 $229
Toast Online Ordering reported $75/mo module on a $0 to $69/mo POS plan $75 to $144 $75 to $144 $75 to $144
Square Online Free $0/mo, processing only $0 $0 $0

Read the table honestly and three things fall out. ChowNow Launch and Toast are the cheapest software line at every volume, and neither one is pizza-native. Slice is the cheapest total answer at 100 orders and the most expensive at 700. Flat plans do not move.

None of that decides it on its own, because Slice is also selling you diners and Toast is only available if you bought the POS. What it does tell you is which question to ask your own numbers: how many online orders did the shop take last month, and is the per-order fee buying you customers you would not otherwise have? If the answer is no and the count is above 150, you are paying rent on a channel you already own. Model it on your own tickets with the free AI report or the commission calculator.

Straight answers

Pizzeria ordering, answered.

What is the best online ordering system for a pizzeria?
For most independent pizzerias, Slice. It is the only platform built solely for pizza, it starts at $39/month plus a per-order fee, and its consumer app sends you diners you did not have. Once you pass roughly 150 online card orders a month, that per-order fee costs more than a flat subscription, and a flat platform such as Zayos, Owner.com Flat Rate or ChowNow becomes the cheaper answer. Toast Online Ordering is the sane default if your shop already runs Toast POS.
At what order volume does a flat monthly fee beat Slice?
Slice Online Membership is $39/month plus $3.00 per credit card order, so it crosses $499 at about 154 orders a month and $599 at about 187. Below that, Slice is cheaper. Above it, every extra order is $3 you would keep on a flat plan. Slice Family Membership at $399/month plus $2.00 per order crosses $499 at about 50 orders, though Family also includes a full register and printer kit plus a $1,000 implementation fee that a software-only plan has neither of.
Does a pizzeria need a pizza-specific ordering platform?
It helps more here than in any other category. Pizza carries the heaviest modifier load in the restaurant business: two halves, four sizes, sixty toppings, per-size add-on pricing, and a make line that has to read the ticket in build order. A general ordering platform can be configured to do it. A pizza-native one arrives doing it. Ask any vendor to demo a half pepperoni, half mushroom, extra cheese order and print the ticket before you sign.
Why are pizzerias hit hardest by delivery commissions?
Because pizza taught the country to order online, and the marketplaces inherited that habit from independent shops. A pizzeria running 28% to 32% food cost and 30% labor has thin room left before rent. Marketplace commission runs 15% to 30% base and 25% to 35% blended once delivery, marketing and processing stack on top, which is more than the margin the pie was carrying.
Can I keep Slice or DoorDash and still run direct ordering?
Yes, and most shops should. Keep the marketplaces for the diners who are discovering you, and give the regulars who already know your name a direct site with a lower fee. On Zayos Operator + Marketplace, DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub tickets ingest through Otter onto the same kitchen tablet as your direct orders, so the make line is not watching four screens on a Friday.
Who owns the customer if a pizzeria orders through Slice?
Diners who find you inside the Slice app are meeting you on Slice, and that discovery is genuinely valuable early on. On a direct platform the order record, the phone number and the order history sit in an account you control and can export. That difference matters less in year one and much more in year five, when a rented channel changes its fee schedule.
