How much does Clover online ordering cost? A Zayos price teardown

Published July 2026 · Updated July 26, 2026

Quick answer

Clover does not sell online ordering by itself. It is bundled into a restaurant POS package. On clover.com in July 2026, quick service packages start at $135 a month over 36 months and full service at $179, with card processing at 2.3% plus 10 cents tapped and 3.5% keyed.

What am I actually buying when Clover quotes me a monthly price?

Hardware, mostly. Clover shows every restaurant package two ways on the same screen. The first way spreads the terminals and the software across 36 months, which is where the headline monthly numbers come from. The second way sells you the devices up front and bills the software separately each month. Same package, two ways to pay for it.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Comparing "$135 a month" against an online ordering subscription compares a 36 month equipment payment to a service you can cancel. Read the second column of Clover's own table and the software plan shows itself: $89.95 a month on the entry packages, rising to $109.90 and then $129.85 as the package adds a second and third device. The software line grows with terminals, so a second station is not just a hardware cost.

You are also buying the card processor. Clover is a Fiserv product and the payment rate comes with the box rather than from a vendor you shop separately. For many independents that bundling is the appeal. For anyone who has already negotiated a rate they like, it is the part to price carefully.

The ladder

What does each Clover restaurant package cost?

Read off clover.com/pricing/quick-service-restaurant and clover.com/pricing/restaurant on 26 July 2026. Clover notes that these prices are only available on clover.com, so a reseller quote can differ.

Package Financed Bought outright What is in the box
Quick service, Starter $135/mo for 36 months or $849 plus $89.95/mo Mini 8 inch touchscreen POS with built in receipt printer. Cash drawer and swivel stand are optional add ons. Software plan: Restaurant Growth.

Clover also runs promotions that change the first year. In July 2026 the site carried a $450 statement credit on Station, Mini or Flex purchases, and a 90 day trial with no software subscription fees on the Clover Essentials or Services Growth plan for qualified merchants, valid 3/5/2026 through 9/5/2026. Promotions expire. Get your own terms in writing.

Per order

Is Clover online ordering really free?

There is no commission, and that claim holds up. The per order money moves through the card rate instead.

Card tapped, swiped or inserted

2.3% plus 10 cents

Published on both restaurant pricing pages, and headlined on clover.com/pricing as "Pay as little as 2.3% + 10 cents per transaction".

Card information typed in

3.5% plus 10 cents

The keyed rate. Clover lists it directly under the tapped rate on the same pricing table.

Online ordering

Listed as "No fee online ordering"

Clover includes its online menu page, pick up and delivery order types and remote order firing in every restaurant package. There is no separate commission. The pricing page does not state which of the two card rates above applies to an order placed on that page.

Rapid Deposit

1.75% fee

Optional. Moves funds to your account within minutes of a card sale instead of on the standard deposit schedule.

Third party menu integrations

Included

Included in the restaurant packages. What the delivery apps themselves take is marketplace commission, not a Clover fee, so it does not appear here.

Commission free and fee free are different claims, and Clover is careful to make only the first one. The honest way to read the package is this: the subscription buys the software and the terminals, and the card rate is what every order costs after that.

The real math

What does it cost at $8,000 a month in online orders?

250 online orders at a $32 average ticket, on Clover's two published card rates. The package payment sits on top of both columns.

At the 2.3% plus 10 cents rate
$209/mo
2.3% of $8,000 is $184, plus 250 times 10 cents, which is $25. Add the quick service Starter package at $135 a month and the line reads about $344 a month.
At the 3.5% plus 10 cents rate
$305/mo
3.5% of $8,000 is $280, plus the same $25. Add the same $135 package and the line reads about $440 a month. The rate question is worth $96 a month at this volume.

That $96 gap is the most useful number on this page, because Clover publishes both rates and does not publish which one lands on an order placed through its own online menu page. If the answer is the keyed rate, the difference over 36 months is roughly $3,456 at this volume, which is more than the hardware in the Starter package. Get it written into the agreement.

Then run the same arithmetic on your own numbers: last month's card volume times the rate, plus ten cents per transaction, plus the package payment. That total is the honest Clover monthly, and it is the only figure worth putting next to another vendor.

Am I signing a contract, and who is Clover right for?

The 36 month payment plan is a 36 month commitment by definition. Beyond that, the promotional terms for Clover's $450 statement credit offer state plainly that the offer "Requires a 3-year contract", and that it expires December 31, 2026. Clover's pricing FAQ also carries a question titled "Are there any termination fees?", which tells you the question comes up often enough to answer publicly. Get your answer in the agreement, not from a web page.

Now the fair part. If your point of sale is failing, or you want the POS, the card processor, the kitchen printer and a basic ordering page to arrive in one box with 24/7 support behind it, Clover is a genuinely reasonable buy and the app market around it is deep. Nothing here argues otherwise.

The mismatch is specific. If your POS already works, your kitchen already runs an Otter tablet, and the actual problem is the 15% to 30% base commission the delivery apps take (closer to 25% to 35% blended once delivery, marketing and processing stack), buying terminals again does not fix that.

The other structure

How does Zayos price the same job?

Flat software, no hardware to finance, and the per order fee moves to the diner instead of the restaurant.

Three flat tiers, no setup fee

Zayos is $499 Operator, $599 Operator plus Marketplace, or $699 Concierge, per location per month, month to month, with no setup fee and nothing financed over 36 months. Concierge adds up to 5 virtual brands per kitchen.

The diner pays the per order fee

$0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine in and 10% on catering, paid by the diner at checkout. The restaurant never pays it and keeps 100% of food revenue and 100% of tips. There is no percentage of your ticket flowing out.

It sits on the tablet you already run

At $599, Otter pulls Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub tickets onto the same kitchen tablet as your direct orders, so the kitchen learns nothing new. Naya Grill in Pompano Beach and West Palm Beach runs this today and keeps $48k+ a year that used to go to commissions.

Where Clover is the better buy

Zayos is not a point of sale and not a card processor. It does not print your receipts or run your drawer. If you need to replace a terminal, Clover sells you a terminal and Zayos does not. Buy the thing that fixes your actual problem.

Straight answers

Clover cost questions, answered.

How much does Clover online ordering cost on its own?
It is not sold on its own. Clover lists "No fee online ordering", the Clover online menu page, pick up and delivery order types and remote order firing as included features of its restaurant packages, so the cost of Clover online ordering is the cost of the Clover package it rides in. On clover.com in July 2026 those packages start at $135 a month for 36 months for quick service and $179 a month for 36 months for full service, or you can buy the hardware outright and pay the software monthly instead.
Is the monthly Clover price a software subscription?
Not by itself. Clover shows two payment options for the same package. The financed option spreads hardware and software across 36 months, which is where $135, $185, $239 and $354 a month come from. The buy option separates them: devices up front, from $849 to $4,447 depending on package, then a monthly software plan of $89.95, $109.90 or $129.85. That software figure rises as the package adds devices, so budget a software charge per terminal rather than one flat charge per restaurant.
What card processing rate does Clover charge on an online order?
Clover publishes two rates on its restaurant pricing pages: 2.3% plus 10 cents when a card is tapped, swiped or inserted, and 3.5% plus 10 cents when card information is typed in. The pricing page does not say which of the two applies to an order placed through Clover online ordering, and the gap between them is worth real money. On $8,000 a month in online orders the difference is about $96. Get the answer for your own agreement in writing before you sign.
Does Clover require a contract?
The 36 month payment option is a 36 month commitment by definition. Separately, the promotional terms for Clover's current $450 statement credit hardware offer state that it "Requires a 3-year contract" and that the offer expires December 31, 2026. Clover's own pricing FAQ carries a question titled "Are there any termination fees?", which is the exact question to have answered in writing for your agreement.
How does Clover compare to Zayos on price?
They are not the same purchase. Clover is a point of sale system with terminals, a card processor and online ordering bundled in, so its price includes hardware you can touch. Zayos is a direct ordering channel that runs alongside the POS and Otter tablet you already have, at $499 Operator, $599 Operator plus Marketplace or $699 Concierge, per location per month, month to month with no setup fee. On Zayos the per order charge is paid by the diner at checkout, $0.99 pickup, $2.99 delivery, $0 dine in and 10% on catering, and the restaurant keeps 100% of food revenue and tips. If you need to replace a broken POS, Clover is a real answer and Zayos is not. If your POS is fine and your problem is the commission on marketplace orders, buying hardware again is an expensive way to fix it.
